Wastewater Service Connection Information
Wastewater Service Connection Procedures
For those properties required to connect to a gravity wastewater line, a licensed plumber must be used to perform the connection. The plumber is responsible for the connection and service installation inside the Right-of-Way (ROW) line up to the property owner’s existing or new cleanout. Specifically, the plumber must locate and connect to the capped stub-out, approximately 18” past the installed cleanout at the ROW line. Standard minimum depth for service lines is 54” below existing grade at the ROW line. The plumber must field determine the connection, however, the Village recommends that house piping be connected by gasketed PVC couplings or a Cantex C-T adapter, if house piping is other than SDR 35 PVC pipe. Minimum slope for 4” service lines is 1% and 6” service lines is 0.5%. The plumber shall install PVC sweeps and adjust slope as necessary to connect service. See connection schematic below to assist with the installation. Most of the properties connecting to the wastewater system will be on a gravity wastewater line.
For those properties required to connect to a low-pressure wastewater line, a licensed plumber must be used to perform the connection. The plumber is responsible for the connection and service installation inside the Right-of-Way (ROW) line up to the property owner’s point of connection. A grinder pump must also be installed on properties connecting to a low-pressure wastewater line. See grinder pump specifications below. Plumbers installing grinder pumps must be certified by the Village to install the pumps. An electrician may also be required due to the power demands for the grinder pump.
