House Watch Program - Security While You Are Away

The Village of Salado Police Department performs house checks for residents who will be away from their homes for an extended period. If an officer encounters anything that they feel you should be notified of, they will try to contact the homeowner through the emergency contact numbers provided. To request a House Watch, please complete the  House Watch Request Form and drop it off at the Salado Police Department at 313 N. Stagecoach Road or the Municipal Building at 301 N. Stagecoach.

Information submitted on this form will be verified by a phone call or email by a Salado Police Department employee.

RUOK Program - Keeping Seniors and Disabled Residents Safe

The Village of Salado Police Department offers free telephone service to help keep Salado's seniors and disabled residents safe. Through the RUOK Program, which stands for "are you okay?", participants receive phone calls from the Salado Police Department's Citizens on Patrol volunteer program at a designated time each day to check their status. If no one answers the phone after several tries, Salado Police officers drive to the home to check on the resident. The program is limited to residents of the Village of Salado.

To enroll in the RUOK Program, please complete the RUOK Enrollment Form and drop it off at the Salado Police Department at 313 N. Stagecoach Road or the Salado Municipal Building at 301 N. Stagecoach Road. If a resident requires a form to be taken to their residence, call 254-947-5681 and leave a message.

VILLAGE VIDEO PARTNERSHIP

The Village of Salado Police Department is seeking assistance from residents, business owners, and property management companies in creating a resource for members of our team in the fight against crime. You can register your privately owned security cameras that view any public place within the Village of Salado, such as sidewalks, streets, and parking lots. If a crime occurs, officers will have a database of homes and businesses in the vicinity that have registered privately owned security cameras. You may be contacted to see if suspicious or criminal activity has been captured on one of your cameras that would be helpful in a criminal investigation.

This program is not intended for active surveillance, nor does it provide any direct access to your system. All registry information is only available to the police department for the purposes of investigating a criminal matter. Any information shared with the Department will be strictly confidential. Having this information will allow us to locate potential evidentiary video and contact the homeowner or business for a copy in a quick and efficient manner. Registration is completely voluntary, and registrants can opt out at any time.

To register, fill out the Village Video Partnership form. For more information, read the Village Video Partnership Policy or contact the Salado Police Department at (254) 534-4562.

CODE RED - A Reverse 9-1-1 Notification System

The Village of Salado and its Police Department participate in a reverse 911 notification system called CODE RED. Reverse 911 is used when Police, Fire, and Government officials need to notify the public regarding emergencies and any actions they should take to protect lives and property. Unfortunately, many people will not receive these critical notices because of the decline of home/land-line phones, so residents and business owners are encouraged to self-register their contact information.

Please follow the links below to self-register cell phones and email addresses. This will also allow the confirmation of a home/business location on a map. The reverse 911 program is also being utilized by cities within Bell County and surrounding counties. Registration of cell phones and emails is voluntary.

CITIZENS HELPING IN POLICE SERVICE (CHIPS) - Volunteers Helping Keep Salado Safe

The Salado Police Department's Citizens Helping In Police Service (CHIPS) program provides the opportunity for trained citizen volunteers to assist their police department with designated non-confrontational activities as citizen patrollers and administrative volunteers. The program's purpose is to increase citizen understanding and participation in police activities, enhance crime prevention, and provide additional resources to improve service to the community.

CHIPS volunteers are trained to work with the police department to act as additional "eyes and ears" to help report criminal activity and issues requiring the attention of city resources. Citizens interested in joining the COPS program should complete the CHIPS Application Form and drop it off at the Salado Police Department at 313 N. Stagecoach Road or the Salado Municipal Building at 301 N. Stagecoach Road.
